The Dawson Police Department announces the 2020 Dawson Police Criminal Justice Scholarship Awards Program. Under the Program, a $1000 scholarship will be awarded to a senior attending the public School , Terrell High School, Dawson, Ga. 39842 . There may be additional scholarships awarded based on funding.
Program Guidelines & Priorities:
Seeking graduating seniors with a record of volunteerism in the community in non-school sponsored activities and participation in extracurricular school activities.
Applicants must plan to attend a two (2)-year community college or four (4)-year college or university.
Scholarship funds will be paid during the month of September 2020—directly to the student, not the college. The scholarship funds will be issued to the student upon receiving a certificate of enrollment for the fall semester, which include the Student ID number.
Applicants must have the endorsement of their Guidance Counselor on their application attesting they are qualified for this scholarship program.
Applications must be received by the Dawson Police Criminal Justice Scholarship Awards Program no later than April 30, 2020. Late applications will not be accepted.
Essay Specifications
Compose an original, previously unpublished essay of up to 1,000 words identifying an injustice plaguing criminal law , in your community or procedure and proposing a workable solution
The applications will be reviewed and recipients selected by the Dawson Police Criminal Justice Scholarship Awards Program Scholarship Committee. The scholarships will be awarded during the annual academic award ceremony during May of 2020 at the Terrell High School. A formal invitation will be sent and scholarship winners should plan to attend.
